These darts really don’t last long in our house. Reloading them and shooting them over and over makes them start to tear. The darts themselves also hurt at close range! But my boys love the guns that they go in, so I guess it’s worth it.

I’ve used the steamvac twice now: once with only hot water and the second time with the attached cleaner. The first time, the water was dark brown. There was definitely lots of dirt in the carpet. Our carpet is 1.5 yrs old. As far as the appearance, the carpet looked about the same. The traffic area remained. I was disappointed. After using the cleaner, the carpet looked better but I had used the entire bottle on one very small room. It eats up the cleaner quickly. It only picked up 50% of the traffic stain. I am not sure if it’s because my carpet is short or the kind of carpet I have just doesn’t look new. Anyway, I had high expectations due to the reviews but I am glad I have something. Even though I don’t see a big difference, I trust (from the dirty water) that it is cleaning my carpet. Sorry, I wish I had a better review.

I liked this tool so much. I love how it collects a huge ball of hair from my pet and I simply pick it up and throw it away. My dog gets a little annoyed at first every single time I start combing her, but she gets used to it right away and really seems to enjoy it in the end because she sits really still and allows me to comb her all over. I have a small dog, a chihuaha-poodle mix, so it takes me less than ten minutes to do it with the medium size tool. I try and comb her twice a week, but I know I should do it more often because she is shedding a lot right now. I highly recommend the Furminator.

“The Help” is set in early 1960’s Mississippi, just before the Civil Rights movement. There are three major characters, and Sackett takes the story into all three characters’ voices. Skeeter is a young white woman who recently graduated from college and yearns for a job in publishing or journalism rather than becoming the homemaker her mother wants her to be. Aibileen is a black housekeeper/nanny who is caring for her seventeenth white child, but it distraught by the beating death of her own son. Minny, Aibileen’s friend, is also a black housekeeper; Minny has a problem keeping jobs because of her inability to keep her words in check — a very importatn skill for black housekeepers of that time.

Skeeter, with Aibileen’s and Minny’s help, takes on the dangerous project of learning about what life is like for a black housekeeper in Mississippi at that time and writing about it. She assures Aibileen, Minny, and their friends that their names and the location will be changed in the final copy of the project to protect their safety and their jobs, and they meet secretly in different housekeepers’ homes to maintain this privacy. During these interviews, Skeeter also finds out the answer to a question that had troubled her for some time: why did her beloved childhood nanny Constantine suddenly disappear, and where was Constantine now?

These secret meetings, the discovery of the answers to Skeeter’s questions about Constantine, the final copy of the project, and its aftermath show very poignantly how domestic help of that time were treated by their employers.

Though Stockett’s biographical information states that she was raised by a black nanny in lieu of an absentee mother, making her similar to Skeeter, I would have liked to see how she got her information about what pre-Civil Rights era Mississsippi was like. Though Stockett’s nanny could have told her about the time and place, it seems obvious that Stockett is too young to have first-hand information. I wo

I needed a scale that had a large display for easy reading and one that is accurate to a fault. This one fits the bill! I had lap band surgery over 1 year ago and wanted to keep an accurate reading on my weight. This one is within .2 lbs. of the doctor’s scale and is accurate with all my family members who have used it. I like the clear design and short platform as I have problems in stepping up and down. It’s easy to keep clean and attractive enough I can use it in a convenient area in the house instead of having to hide it in the bathroom. It has my highest recommendation.

I was a skeptic at first, but when I took this tool to my pooch I was AMAZED at the amount of hair it took off. My mastiff sheds all over the place but since I used this tool on her coat I have been having much less hair coming off of her in my house. It works best after a bath when the pets’ hair is dry. Word of warning, use it OUTSIDE because it is a very messy process. Amazon has the most reasonable prices for this item, my vet tried selling my the exact same tool for $60. This item is a MUST HAVE for any shedding pet owner.
