Finally a new perspective… a REAL look at human beings as we really are as opposed to how we would like to be. Anyone interested in looking at oneself and finding out who he/she is, instead of hiding behind a facade that has been built to protect oneself from criticism would enjoy this book… The book explores human behavior… It offers many literary quotes and historical events to support its thesis…. Very interesting, very informative…
Eat or Be Eaten

A beautiful film, a must-see, even if you have little interest in Jewish culture or history. The title refers not just to the two suitcases that Chaya’s father buried but to the baggage all of us carry with us or hope to bury and not deal with again. Chaya (Laura Fraser) takes a job as a nanny for a Chassidic family (wow! Isabella Rossellini is is the image of her mother, Ingrid Bergman)and bonds with 4-year-old Simcha, who cannot — or will not — speak. This relationship will change many lives and challenge those involved to deal with their left luggage.

Wow this is a wonderful book, a can’t put down book. I have read this book twice and I can read it all over again.

Democracy under pressure Special

I generally like Hugh Grant’s romantic comedy movies, but this one was embarrassing. Grant plays a washed up pop singer milking his former fame at amusement parks and other shoddy venues. Drew Barrymore plays a supposedly quirky songwriter. I gave it two stars because the Indian doorman and the actress playing Drew’s sister are funny. Grant tries, but the story is pathetic and the humor isn’t there.

Forget this. Go watch Love Actually, instead.
Music and Lyrics Combo

I’ve been wanting a Kindle for years, and finally bit the bullet after this recent price drop. I decided I had to write a review because I’ve found the Kindle to be so fabulous for a reason I’ve not heard any other reviewer mention (not that I’ve read them all, so I apologize if you’ve said the same thing and I missed it). I lived in Germany 20 years ago, so my German, while once quite fluent, is rather rusty. I’m planning a visit there in a few weeks, though, so I’ve been wanting to brush up. The first thing I did when I got my new Kindle was to search for German books in the Kindle store (there are many and the prices are outstanding!) and order a few. I also bought the Barrons German-English dictionary, and set it as my Kindle’s default dictionary. Now when I read my German books, I can just scroll with my cursor and get immediate translations for any words I’m not sure of. It is fabulous! I am flying through a German book that I probably would not even have had the confidence to read in print form. I would have been worried that I would get stuck on too many words that that it would be too disruptive and cumbersome to look them all up. Problem solved with my Kindle!

If you would like to improve your reading skills in a foreign language- (at least in German, French, or Spanish because I’m not sure about the availability of ebook titles in other languages), I highly recommend a Kindle!

This wrench will work for most small tune up jobs around the house and on your bike, I wouldn’t use it for heavy duty torque jobs like on cars… however I recently discovered you can buy a set at target for around $20 that includes this size!!!

A good read and most enjoyable. The humor in this book about nursing homes is right on the mark. The characters are believable and likeable. The story line is good and romantic. The ending is open for discussion–but good.
Planning to Win With

It’s unfortunate that almost two thousand readers gave this book 5 stars. The author is a blonde, white woman who has exploited her maid (mammy) and has capitalized on her duplicitous childhood experiences. If a black person had written this book in the southern vernacular and the fabricated dialect in this book, it would never have been published. However, people are delighted that an attractive White woman could “capture” the speech of the black folks down South. What a marvel! My question is, “Did Ms. Stockett share any of the profits and royalties from this book with the family of her black Mammy, who made it all possible?” I sincerely doubt it. The book (which is poorly written) is just another example of “hype” and exploitation. I wish there were negative stars.
