Ok..now I feel morally obliged to offer my review after reading so many other reviews to base my buying decision. The inner voice kept asking me to post a review even though it is boring like mowing somebody elses lawn.

I have used nuvi 205 couple of times and find it really well designed. Garmin has tweaked the screen-interface and I must say that it really works in favour of the users.
Users care less about mp3 and other cosmetic stuff provided in nuvi 350. All we care about is a smart GPS that guides us through the best route. 205 has all those ingredients!!

Nuvi 205 does not have spoken street names but it does have voice guidance that says something like ” turn right in next 1 mile”. Users who typically find guidance through one of those green-freeway-signs are smart enough to figure the street name. Moreover, the street name is right on top of the screen. In my view, it is a waste of $$ to pay 100 bucks more for just yelling street names when it is right in front of you. Satellite acquisition and Route recalculation also seemed to have improved a bit. I have not used the traffic support and POI to offer any good comments. One little feature I find cool is the speed limit mentioned on the screen. This way user doesnt have to be on lookout for signs showing the limit. Of course, this is of little use to people who drive in left lane @ >70…

And for those of you who think that GPS should offer more..205 does have photo navigation, customized car-shaped icons, world travel clock, currency converter, measurement converter, calculator…..I wouldnt really give big grades for having them..

Anybody would be foolish to pay more. I bought a bunch of these cables for all of my TV sets. Picture and sound are perfect. I am very satisfied with the quality and performance.

A friend recommended this book for me. I got the sample yesterday morning for my kindle and bought the remainder soon after and finished it today. What a great book. So refreshing.

Unbidden images of Gone With the Wind popped into my head and played out when I first started reading the stories of Aibileen and the other black maids, until I discovered that some of those same maids were college educated and reading classics like To Kill a Mockingbird and even some Freud. I had to stop and think, this story is in fact based in 1962, almost a hundred years since the slaves were set free. So what has happened in 100 years? According to this story, subservient slave labor is alive and well, except that these black women are employees instead of property.

The book spans the time from 1962-1964 in Jackson, Mississippi, the civil rights movement is rumbling. Almost everything is still segregated, except for the bus, “We sit anywhere we want to now thanks to Miss Parks.” In the background of the story, Mississippi is featured in Life magazine twice in two months for its racial unrest, Martin Luther King is planning his big march on Washington, and President Kennedy is shot. But in the foreground are the black maids and their stories, the everyday life of these women is fascinating reading, the things they had to endure, the joys and hardships. You can tell yourself this is a fiction book, but you know deep down that these things really did happen, a sad and shameful time in our Southern history.

I really enjoyed this book, it is funny and sad and serious and suspenseful and totally believable. As I am sure the author intended, I found myself rooting for the maids and abhorring their white bosses. For such an oppressing topic, it was a thoroughly great read.

I was suprised by the Garmin portable friction mount. Things like this that I’ve tried before wind up slipping around
and not working well. This piece really works, I doubt that I’ll ever use the provided windshield mount. This thing hangs to whatever it’s put on, the dash , your knee,or the center console. Its use is a satisfying experience.
Hand Painted Cherry 3

Bought two of these to take on our trip to Greece. Both got corrupted after 900 pictures or so. Before the trip both cards were formatted in camera (Rebel XTI) to ensure compatibility. I quickly replaced them with a Kingston of same speed and size and no corruption occurred so the camera was not the problem. Fortunately I was able to recover about 90% of the images using recovery softwares (costs $$$$ too) but the remaining of the trip was not as enjoyable because I was worried that the pictures were irrecoverable. I don’t recommend these cards whatsoever. I’ll return these cards if I could. Buyers beware!!!

I order these mirrors for my wife trike/bicycle ad they look great on it.Easy to put on and adjust.I like these so much I may order my self a pair of them for my trike that I am building here.
