I received this scale about 2 weeks ago and the first thing I noticed was that the batteries were missing. It clearly states on the box that batteries are included, but mine did not. After going battery shopping, I stepped on the scale and gave me a pretty accurate weight. A couple of days later I had a doctor’s appointment and wanted to check the accuracy of the scale. I weighed myself before leaving the house and I was very happy the weight was the same at the doctor’s office. However, this scale does not give consistent readings anymore after only 2 weeks of use. I stepped on and off multiple times, and always got the same number. Then I grabbed a 5-pound bag of sugar, stepped on again, and it was up 7 pounds. I then weighed myself without the bag of sugar and it was down 5 pounds. I weighed myself yesterday morning and after drinking a cup of coffee, I weighed myself again and it was up 2 pounds. I do like the fact that the scale is very easy to read with the large numbers and the blue backlight, but I will keep searching for the almost perfect scale.

I really disliked the windshield mount for the GPS. I didn’t want to risk it falling down, and I’ve heard they sometimes leave marks on the windshield that attract thieves – neither are issues I wanted to deal with. This mount is really great. It stows away well, and works perfectly in use. It’s really simple to use.
Camera Small Electronics Case

This book is very hard for non-numerate individuals (like myself, a law student). I picked it up after reading Six Degrees: The Science of a Connected Age (Open Market Edition), hoping I would find longer – but equally accessible – explanations of those concepts that are sketched in the latter.
Unfortunately, I didn’t. The book is essentially a presentation of the modelling techniques used by Prof. Watts in arriving to the theory of Small Worlds. A thorouhg understanding would require truly firm foundations in statistics, graph theory and topology. Without that, you’ll probably be able to understand at most twenty pages (out of 241).
If you have read Six Degrees, you’ll still find some useful and still accessible discussion on multidimensional scaling, i.e. on the problem of measuring social distance, which Watts later discusses in Six Degrees with reference to the problem of search in networks. However, that’s just about it.
My two-star rating is by no means meant to criticise Prof. Watts’s ideas, or the substantial contentions he makes in the book (very few of which I was able to understand from a mathematical point of view, due to my faulty background). Deserving two starts, instead, are the Editorial reviews, which are hugely misleading. This is not “aimed at a wide audience”. Or, better, it is aimed at a wide audience of MATHEMATICIANS. It is a technical one, and that would need to be made explicit.
Small Worlds The Dynamics

This book is just what I was looking for. It was written for people just like me-wanna be gardeners. Gardening is just my hobby but I want to get results for all my work. I enjoy working outdoors. I find it so relaxing. Knowing how to do it right gives me more confidence. Just love the book. Can’t wait for Spring so I can start planting.

This ball head is very well made, rugged and hefty at a very reasonable price. The only drawback I found was the fact that when a middle size camera is on the ball head, the bubble levels will not be visible. To avoid this, if you are using this ball head with a SLR camera, you could place a bubble level on the hot shoe slot of the camera, in order to see if the camera is leveled.
